Amazon Prime has transformed me into a terrible, lazy shopper
Just a quick thought: As I was purchasing all my Christmas gifts this year for friends, family members and my gorgeous girlfriend, I’ve noticed that Amazon Prime has altered the way I decide to purchase something. In years past, I would collect items in my shopping basket in order to purchase them all at once and ultimately save on shipping costs (assuming that the items were coming from the same Amazon warehouse).
Since I’ve added Amazon Prime to my account, I no longer have any compunction to save on shipping costs and basically purchased gifts as the ideas popped into my head. I probably accepted at least 10 packages from Amazon this December, all with 2-day shipping.
I’ve also noticed that the convenience of shopping with Prime keeps me away from brick & mortar stores. Having an item in two days isn’t that much of a waiting period. If it ends up saving me an hour of my time getting to a store, buying something and returning, I’ll probably just wait.
